| that's right, boys and girls... TRIPLE 8 FUNK IS COMPETING IN HIPHOP INTERNATIONAL!
last
night was the NZ hiphop championships finals... the top 3 teams of each
division (juniors, varsity, and adult) get to represent new zealand at
hiphop international in LA in july... and my amazing T8FUNK family made
it in the top 3 along with TMC and DZIAH! man... i'm so stoked. so if you want to come to watch hiphop int'l with me at the end of july, let me know :) i'll be reppin' both NZ and cali HARD OUT.. <3
in other news, i just got back from a 5 day post-bday roadtrip around the rest of the north island south of auckland.
after 12 hours of birthday payback, i finally managed to recover from the long night and woke up at 6am monday morning to pack and catch my 8am nakedbus down to wellington. it was a 13 hour ride. that's all i have to say about it.
wellington
was AWESOME. if i get the chance, i totally want to spend more time
down there to just explore and soak up the city, instead of just one
night and half a day. (but we had enough time to get to the meanest cafe ever - midnight espresso. food that really hits the spot, man! we then made our way up to napier, in hawke's bay -- wine country! the
scenery is absolutely gorgeous out there. after checking out of the
hostel, we spent some time on the beach just muckin around and then hit
the road... wandering the city and enjoying the art-deco architecture
in napier city centre and then stopping by the arataki honey factory, a wicked-as lookout point up above hawke's bay, and the silky oak chocolate company!
we actually got so distracted driving around that we didn't get around
to actually doing a wine tasting like we were supposed to. haha
after
spending the night in taupo, we wake up to cloudy weather, but decide
to go along with our original plans regardless. so you know what i did?
i bungee jumped over lake taupo... in the rain.
it was SO COOL, and i'm really glad i chose to do it in taupo instead
of some obscure cityscape where the scenery isnt as epic and it's just
makeshift because they'll make money from the sheer convenience. OH
MAN. it was crazy. straight afterwards we drove off to waitomo to make our 2:30 reservations for tumutumutoobing in the waitomo caves. IF YOU EVER DO ANYTHING COOL IN YOUR LIFE, GO CAVING.
i have to say it was the wickedest experience i've ever had...
climbing through an underground cave, swimming in certain areas,
sloshing through water and seeing "glowworms", wettas, and eels.
after
caving, we were all so famished that we decided to order a large
16-slice pizza from the place at our hostel. AND wedges, because we had
to wait an hour for the pizza. and with the pizza came an illegitimate
additional order of wedges. accidental? an act of kindness? we didn't
care... we just took it. afterwards, we proceeded to get into our
abundant stash of snacks... feijoas, kiwifruit, muesli and oreo bars,
timtams... we are fat. so now the five of us, stephen the international, lonely planet (emily), hona bear, seven, and myself - mr. chin's takeaway, you may now have the pleasure of knowing as the KINGDOM OF GLUTTONY.
alright. so for our last leg of the trip, we made our way over to rotorua, home of the ZORB. i
got this awesome deal beforehand through beyondtravel... this agency
that books all these activities with student discounts and cool
packages in town...it was called the TRIPLE BYPASS. i know, intense,
right? it included a ZORB (see above)... its like a giant hamster
ball, but instead of being strapped in i got the wet zorb, which means
you sit inside the bubble in a pool of water and you slide around
inside while the ball is rolled down a zig-zag path downhill. IT IS SO
WICKEDAWESOME. then after lunch with erin (a pizza hut a pizza hut...
kentucky fried chicken and a pizza hut!) i headed back to agrodome to
finish up. i did the SWOOP (that thing where you're strapped into a
body bag and pulled back on a bungee cord and when it releases it
swings you down to earth.. they have it at six flags) and AGROJET
(think: retired jetboat racer... same skill and speed, but heaps safer).
so that was my intense week. i
must say, i had an AWESOME 21st to remember (i'm surprised i remember
it...) and it wouldn't have happened without all the support and love
from everybody back home and here in NZ.
i like the quote from my bungy shirt:
why live life on the edge, when you can just jump off?
HEAPS of love, jo *xo. | | |
| and what am i doing? well, partying out on the town tonight... most bars close at midnight in observance of easter sunday but there are a select few that have their liquor licenses to stay open through the holidays and I WILL BE THERE pwaha :)
i was gonna jump off the sky tower today. (attached to a bungee, you see...) but instead, i'm gonna save all my fun for next week - the first of our 2 week vacation - gallavanting around north island... chillin in wellington, bungee jumping over lake taupo, caving in waitomo, zorb/swoop/agrojet-ing in rotorua. being old is WICKED-as!
THANKS to everyone who has been wishing me happy birthday... it's awesome knowing that i'm being thought of especially since i'm on the complete other side of the world. it's also pretty amazing cuz i can celebrate from midnight HERE until midnight of april 8 back HOME. that's a full 43 hours! hahahhaa =]
you guys ROCK... i have the greatest friends ever!
21 and invincible
Can't wait to screw this up
We're 21 and invincible
I'm in power for the hour
I guess today's gonna blow us away
hugs, kisses, and love caliJO.
